“El babujal!”
Finally completed my horror short.
Embarassingly though, I missed a deadline for the Revenge of Hallowzine anthology releasing this fall—but all is not lost; I’m currently begging for a spot in the book. It’s really packed with great local talent and I’d love to be grouped in there. I was only a week late, which by indie artist measureables is pretty freaking good, alas, this is not who I aim to be and will definitely be learning to manage my time better.
…But I do blame Bluejay issue 2.
Regardless, I’ll be releasing “El Babujal” in full closer to spooky season.
I wanted to write a Cuba inspired horror story but I had a hard time finding any concrete folklore so I took my favorite cryptozoic cuban creature and adapted it to something my tia abuela (great aunt) would tell me about many of the extended family members we came across in Miami.
In translation: “The ugliness outside is a response to the hate and envy inside.”
Write what you know.
Hope you guys enjoy the sample pages, I’ll leave more info about the future of “El Babujal” as I receive it!
